Dr. Richie Gupta has been in clinical practice in the field of Plastic, Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery, for the past 31 years. He is widely experienced in all aspects of Plastic Surgery. He is one of the leading surgeons in the country in the field of Sex Change Surgery and Cleft Lip and Palate Surgery. He also has a special interest in micro-vascular surgery and complex reconstructions in cases of gender affirmation surgeries, trauma, birth defects, facial feminization surgeries, aesthetic surgeries and post cancer resections. He is an invited faculty at various Plastic Surgery, Aesthetic Surgery and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery conferences in the country. An alumnus of Maulana Azad Medical College and associated LNJP and GB Pant Hospitals, Delhi, Dr. Richie completed his M.S. in Surgery in 1990. He completed his M.Ch. in Plastic Surgery from Armed Forces Medical College and associated Command Hospital in Pune in 1993.
Dr. Richie has previously worked as Visiting Clinical Professor at Subharti Institute of Medical Sciences, Meerut. He was also the Director of Smile Train Project at Subharti, and later, Sunderlal Jain Hospital, where he carried out hundreds of free operations in children with cleft lip and cleft palate, a common birth defect. He helped to establish a Burns ICU in Sunderlal Jain Hospital, in the year 2000, the only one of its kind in private sector in Delhi, at that time. He has also worked as Senior Consultant in Plastic Surgery at Maharaja Agrasen Hospital, Punjabi Bagh, Max Hospitals at Pitampura and Shalimar Bagh and B.L.K. Superspeciality Hospital at Pusa Road.
Dr. Richie is a member of Association of Plastic Surgeons of India (APSI), Association of Surgeons of India (ASI), Indian Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (IAAPS), National Association of Burns India (NABI), World Professional Assocation for Transgender Health (WPATH), Association for Transgender Health India (ATHI), Indian Professional Association for Transgender Health (IPATH), Indian Medical Association (IMA), Delhi Medical Association (IMA DNZ). He is also, Director in ATHI and IPATH, past President IPATH and he with the help of several co-authors also wrote the surgical chapter in ISOC-1, the First ever Indian Standards of Care for persons with gender incongruence and people with differences in sexual development/ orientation, which was released during online IPATHCON2020.

Presently, he is Senior Director and Head, Department of Plastic, Aesthetic, Reconstructive Surgery and Gender Affirmation Clinic at Fortis Hospital Shalimar Bagh, Delhi. This Department is the leading unit in country in terms of number of gender affirmation (sex change) operations being performed, both MTF and FTM, currently, around 250 per year
